Osiris Health Consultant becomes Member of Executive Committee at British Society of Rehabilitation Medicine


Osiris Health’s Dr Bhaskar Basu this week took up the prestigious position of Member of the Executive Committee at The British Society of Rehabilitation Medicine.

The society represents doctors from across Britain who practise in rehabilitation medicine. The society encourages doctors in all clinical specialties to be involved in education and research into the management of disability.

Members of the society work hard to promote understanding and multidisciplinary management of acute and chronic disabling diseases and injuries; their personal interpersonal and social consequences and to advance public education in these matters.

Dr Basu is perfectly placed for this role due to his expertise in neurorehabilitation services for complex patients. Bhaskar works with patients with traumatic brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury and other neurodegenerative diseases. He has a special interest in complex spasticity management following stroke or brain injury, including Botulinum Toxin chemodenervation.

Bhaskar is a regular contributor to professional journals, and has taken an active interest in several rehabilitation, Research and educational projects for Manchester University and University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN). He is the Contributor of the on-going FORME research project on CFS/ME. He has a wealth of teaching experience and regularly presents at national and international meeting. He has several published articles in leading journals. He is the teacher and trainer in BSRM SIGAM Advanced Prosthetic and Amputee Rehabilitation Course at Stanmore.
