Osiris Health Supports Facial Palsy Awareness Week

Facial Palsy Awareness Week takes place on 1-7 March 2017. This is an opportunity for everyone affected by Facial Palsy to share how the condition affects their daily life.

Osiris Health’s Facial Palsy service treats clients who have a variety of conditions that cause facial weakness/paralysis. These include (although are not limited to) Bell’s Palsy, Ramsey Hunt Syndrome, Lyme Disease, Guillain-Barre Syndrome, as a result of a stroke or the removal of a tumour such as a Vestibular Schwannoma (previously termed Acoustic Neuroma) or a tumour of the parotid gland. We work with clients who have wide ranging needs and severity of conditions.

As part of our work to raise awareness of Facial Palsy and to support those that suffer from this debilitating condition we work closely with Facial Palsy UK. Osiris Health Clinical Lead Helen Martin assists with the facilitation of the Facial Palsy UK Cheshire and Mersey support group, for any adult affected by facial paralysis due to any cause.

The next session of this group will take place on Saturday 18th March from 10am till 12pm. The venue is The Brain Charity, Liverpool. New members are welcome, with plenty of support, a friendly atmosphere and practical advice for anyone who attends.

Benefits of joining a Facial Palsy UK support group include:
• Exchange of information
• Mutual support in an informal and friendly environment
• Sharing experiences
• Discussing the challenging aspects of living with Facial Palsy
• Quarterly newsletter
